Our Programs

Addiction Treatment at Plum Creek Recovery Ranch

Addiction rewires the brain — and recovery means doing the work to rewire it back. At Plum Creek Recovery Ranch, our program is built around three connected phases that lay the groundwork for lasting change:

medical detox

Medical Detox
A safe, medically supervised environment to help you withdraw from substances with 24/7 nursing care and support from a psychiatrist trained in addiction medicine. Detox is housed in a private area of the main house, designed for comfort, privacy, and stability during the earliest days of recovery.

residential treatment

Residential Treatment
Once medically stable, you’ll move into the main treatment program — a structured, immersive experience that blends talk therapy, experiential therapy, and connection with peers. This is where deep work happens: rebuilding neural pathways, practicing new habits, and understanding the root causes of addiction.

continuing care

Continuing Care
Before you leave, we’ll work with you to build a clear plan for what comes next. That includes identifying outpatient providers, sober living options, and support systems in your home community — so you’re not just discharged, you’re set up for what comes next.

Medical Detox in Central Texas

Detox is more than quitting — it’s about doing it safely. At Plum Creek Recovery Ranch, you’ll be in a safe, medically supervised environment where you can detox with stability and support.

  • The most common substances we provide medical detox for include:

    • Alcohol – Detoxing from alcohol can be dangerous without medical supervision and often requires medication to prevent seizures or other serious complications.

    • Opioids – This includes heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone (OxyContin), hydrocodone (Vicodin), methadone, and other prescription painkillers. While opioid withdrawal is typically not life-threatening, the symptoms can be intense — especially with longer-acting opioids like methadone, which require a slower and more carefully managed taper. A supportive medical setting is the safest place to begin that process.

    • Benzodiazepines – Drugs like Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, and Valium can cause dangerous withdrawal symptoms, including seizures, if stopped suddenly.

    • Stimulants – This includes methamphetamine, cocaine, and prescription drugs like Adderall and Ritalin. Detox often focuses on sleep stabilization, managing mood symptoms, and reducing cravings.

    • Synthetic drugs – These include substances like kratom, spice (synthetic marijuana) and bath salts, which can cause unpredictable symptoms that require individualized care.

Even if you’re not sure what level of care you need, our admissions team will help you figure that out and make sure you get the right kind of support from the beginning.

  • Yes. Detox at Plum Creek Recovery Ranch takes place in a private, quiet wing of the main house, separate from the residential program. It’s a calm, supportive setting designed to help you rest and stabilize before beginning treatment.

  • You’ll be monitored 24/7 by our nursing staff and cared for by a psychiatrist with experience in addiction medicine. Your care plan is based on your health history and symptoms, so it’s tailored to what you need.

  • Most people stay 3 to 5 days, but it depends on how your body responds and what substances you’re detoxing from. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way.

  • Not necessarily. If you’ve already completed detox elsewhere or don’t need it based on your health and substance use history, you may be able to enter directly into residential treatment. We’ll figure that out together during the admissions process.

  • Usually, yes — as soon as you're medically stable and ready, you’ll transition into our residential program. We’ll talk with you about the timing to make sure you feel prepared and supported.

Residential Treatment That Goes Beyond Talk Therapy

Plum Creek’s residential program combines evidence-based treatment with experiential therapy, family involvement, and mental health support — all within a structured setting designed to help you focus, reset, and begin building a life in recovery.

  • Most stays range from 30 to 45 days, depending on your needs and progress. Our team works with you to determine the right timeline and coordinates with your care team if you're transitioning from detox or into continuing care.

  • Experiential therapy is about doing, not just talking. We use movement, time outdoors, and hands-on activities to engage your brain and body in the healing process — helping you form new neural connections and practice new ways of being.

  • Yes. Our clinicians include master-level therapists who are trained to treat co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use disorder, using trauma-informed, evidence-based practices.

  • When appropriate, we involve loved ones in the treatment process through education, coaching, and family therapy. Our goal is to help them understand the role they play in recovery and begin their own healing, too.

  • Your day includes group and individual therapy, experiential activities, meals, time outdoors, and downtime to rest or reflect. Every element of the schedule is designed to support your recovery and help you build healthy routines.

  • We have guidelines around phone use and visitation that are focused on supporting your progress. You’ll learn more about these during the admissions process, and we’ll work with you to make sure your support system stays informed.

What Happens After Residential Treatment?

The work of recovery doesn’t end when residential treatment is over. At Plum Creek, we help you take the next steps by building a solid continuing care plan that connects you to the right support, resources, and community — so you don’t have to figure it out alone.

  • Continuing care refers to the structured support that follows residential treatment. It may include outpatient counseling, group therapy, sober living, 12-step programs, medication management, or other services that help you stay on track.

  • Yes. Before you leave Plum Creek, our team works with you to develop a detailed plan that fits your needs and location. We coordinate referrals, share records, and help ensure a smooth transition to your next level of care.

  • Absolutely. We stay in touch during the early weeks after discharge to check in and help troubleshoot any challenges. Many alumni also choose to stay connected through peer support and community events.

  • We work with clients from across the country and can help you find trusted providers and recovery resources in your area. Your continuing care plan will be tailored to your location and circumstances.

  • Relapse is part of some people’s recovery journey, and it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. If you return to use, we’ll provide a non-judgmental assessment to determine what’s needed — whether that’s a return to residential treatment or a different level of support — and get you the care you need.
